Elegant words inherit civilization, while classics infiltrate life. Hefei University (HFU) organized international students to participate in the preliminary contest of the 5th Chinese Classics Reading, Writing and Speaking Contest to promote the rich traditions of Chinese culture. They won the Second and Third prizes, as well as the Excellence Award in the Anhui Province Contest.
VANNALATH SOUDALATH, with her reading of “The Rice is Ripe, Mom”, won the Second Prize and earned an opportunity into the national semifinal. Five international students, SANAVONG NITA, TIMALSINA BINITA, VANNHA DAONGEUN, CHANTHALATH PHAMEE, KEOBUASAY PHOUTPHILATH and BOULOMMAVONG ANOUSEUTH,presented the work “Reading China” and won the Third Prize. YOEURN PHANET and KHOUNTHALIVONG PAVINA’s work “My North and South” received the Excellence Award.
School of International Education and School of Language, Culture and Media jointly took this contest as an opportunity to create a vibrant atmosphere of reading, reciting, speaking and transmitting classics among international students in HFU. This effort aims to further inspire their passion for learning Chinese and disseminate Chinese culture and classics, ultimately enhancing international communication of Chinese classics and traditional culture.
Chinese Classics Reading, Writing and Speaking Contest is sponsored by the China’s Ministry of Education and State Language Commission. The 5th Contest with the theme “Books infiltrate new era, classics brighten new journey”, seeks to popularize Chinese language and culture, guide young students to draw wisdom and strength from Chinese classics, strengthen their ideals and beliefs, and highlight the spirit of the times.
