Anhui Daily featured an article titled “Dual Mentors Inside and Outside the University for Collaborative Education” on November 13, 2023, highlighting Hefei University’s (HFU) efforts to cultivate talent that meets the needs of enterprises.
For the past 20 years, HFU has been integrating classroom education with practical application through its “University-Enterprise Joint Training Model”. Lang Manquan, a second-year graduate student majoring in Materials Engineering at Hefei University, is a prime example of this model. He also works as a research assistant at Anhui Mannst Technology Co., LTD. Lang stated that “book knowledge and experimental data are tested on the production line”, and his experience working in industry has been a valuable complement to his studies.
In recent years, the University’s curriculum is aligned with the ten major emerging industries in Anhui province and the 16 key industrial chains of Hefei city. The university has optimized and upgraded undergraduate majors and introduced 10 new majors such as intelligent transportation.
To avoid being perceived as merely symbolic or superficial mode for internships beyond the university, HFU has brought enterprises into its educational system. Management personnel and engineers are invited to teach and collaborate on talent cultivation. Lang Manquan is “escorted” by two mentors: the enterprise mentor provides practical insights from industry experience, while the university tutor offers academic and professional support.
Moreover, HFU has established Volkswagen College in collaboration with Volkswagen Anhui and Hefei Economic and Technological Development Zone, aiming at the future trends of the automotive market and Volkswagen’s development strategies in China. The first batch of 88 students is being rapidly developed into the talents needed by the automotive industry through the university-enterprise cooperation.
